“J’ai toujours été fasciné et passionné par les pays Méditerranéens. C’est un voyage que j’ai fait maintes fois à travers des villes magistrales comme Alger, Casablanc, Capri, Naples,
Istanbul…Et ville imaginaire : Constantinople qu’il m’a fallu réinventer dans ma tête avec
l’aide des clichés de ce voyageur anonyme dont j’ai acheté un jour à Drouot le carnet de voyage illustré. J’ai inscrit au plus profond de ma mémoire le chemin qui va de Constantinople à Istanbul.”

I have made many times, through such masterly cities as Algiers, Casablanca, Capri, Naples,
Istanbul... And an imaginary city: Constantinople, which I had to reinvent in my head with the help of the photographs of this anonymous traveller whose illustrated travel notebook I
bought one day at Drouot. I have inscribed the road from Constantinople to Istanbul deep in
my memory.”
