Artiste numérique actif depuis plus de 10 ans, Murat Pak a fondé le studio Undream et est le créateur d’Archilect, une intelligence artificielle conçue pour découvrir et partager des contenus visuels stimulants. Personnalité mystérieuse, Pak poste quotidiennement sur Twitter des phrases énigmatiques sur l’art, suscitant la curiosité d’une très grande communauté de followers. Toujours à l’avant-garde de l’art numérique, l’artiste fait aujourd’hui office de référence en matière de cocréation et d’œuvre évolutive. Ses œuvres jouent habilement du comportement des acheteur·ses et interroge le sens de l’art numérique et, par là-même, la notion même de propriété. Enfin, son esthétique 3D emprunte aux mouvements géométriques, minimalistes et monochromatiques pour prendre souvent la forme de loops, des boucles sans fin.

À l’occasion d’un drop organisé par la plateforme Markersplace en février 2021, Pak a numérisé La Création d’Adam de Michel-Ange qui orne le plafond de la chapelle Sixtine pour lancer ensuite une vente aux enchères inédite de NFT. Cette œuvre numérique est en réalité composée de 560 NFT fragmentés qui, une fois réunie, reconstitue l’œuvre originale. En définitive, l’expérience de collecte qu’il propose est conceptuellement plus puissante que l’œuvre numérique elle-même. Le choix de Michel Ange n’a d’ailleurs pas été fait au hasard, l’objectif étant de pousser le·la spectateur·trice à s’interroger sur la paternité réelle de l’œuvre réalisée. Finalement, seuls les NFT effectivement vendus ont été dévoilés, les autres restants plongés dans le noir. Et afin d’éviter que tous les morceaux ne soient vendus, le pas d’enchère augmente tous les 20 nouveaux fragments, l’artiste ayant réservé une dernière subitilité en donnant un titre à chaque tuile, comme si elles étaient ses propres créations. À l’ère des pastiches, samples et autres remixes, Pak s’interrogeant ainsi sur la notion de réappropriation.

Lors de la vente The Fungible sur Nifty Gateway en avril 2021, Pak n’a pas seulement présenté une nouvelle collection d’œuvres : il est allé jusqu’à littéralement crér un nouvel écosystème en dévoilant une nouvelle crypto-monnaie, le $ASH, qu’on ne peut obtenir… qu’en « brûlant» des NFT ! Son dernier coup de maître en date a eu lieu avec la vente aux enchères The Merge sur Nifty Gateway, imaginée pour réunir 266 445 unités numériques dont la fusion totale ne formerait qu’une seule œuvre. Jouant sur le comportement des acheteur·ses, Pak s’est mis à récompenser les collectionneurs ayant additionné le plus gros volume d’achat, la vente de l’intégralité de ce NFT de Pak ayant atteint la somme totale de 91,8 millions de dollars.


A digital artist active for more than 10 years, Murat Pak founded the Undream studio and is the creator of Archilect, an artificial intelligence designed to discover and share stimulating visual content. A mysterious personality, Pak posts enigmatic phrases on art daily on Twitter, arousing the curiosity of a very large community of followers. Always at the forefront of digital art, the artist is now a reference in terms of co-creation and evolving work. His works skilfully play with the behavior of buyers and question the meaning of digital art and, thereby, the very notion of property. Finally, its 3D aesthetic borrows from geometric, minimalist and monochromatic movements to often take the form of loops, endless loops.


On the occasion of a drop organized by the Markersplace platform in February 2021, Pak digitized The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo which adorns the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel to then launch an unprecedented auction of NFT. This digital work is actually made up of 560 fragmented NFTs which, when put together, reconstitute the original work. Ultimately, the collecting experience it offers is conceptually more powerful than the digital work itself. The choice of Michelangelo was not made at random, the objective being to push the spectator to question the real paternity of the work produced. In the end, only the NFTs actually sold were revealed, the others remaining plunged into darkness. And in order to avoid that all the pieces are sold, the bidding step increases every 20 new fragments, the artist having reserved a last subtlety by giving a title to each tile, as if they were his own creations. In the era of pastiches, samples and other remixes, Pak thus questions the notion of reappropriation. On the occasion of The Fungible sale on Nifty Gateway in April 2021, Pak did not only present a new collection of works: he went so far as to literally create a new ecosystem by unveiling a new cryptocurrency, the $ASH, which can only be obtained… by “burning” NFTs! Its latest masterstroke took place during The Merge auction on Nifty Gateway, designed to bring together 266,445 digital units whose total fusion would form a single work. Playing on the behavior of buyers, Pak began to reward collectors who added up
the largest volume of purchases, the sale of the entire NFT of Pak having reached the total sum of 91.8 million dollars.
